The Big Hong Kong home coming

On the program, three regattas to open the September season, and boats everywhere. In Hong Kong, we never stop…

After a very active summer season in Hong Kong, with the Typhoon Series and the Saturday Series, which a three boat Longtze fleet sailed every weekend, now it is the Class re-entry… in a way of speaking, because actually, in Hong-Kong, everyone passes their time on the water and it is never really vacation time.Each month, each season is an excuse to organize a new regatta. This for example, is the big September re-entry and the three big clubs of the island jostle to have the most participants and the best regatta. For the teams, it is simply fantastic, and the three Longtze premier crews don't need any encouragement to sail. It is the same even amongst themselves, the great atmosphere and the regatta inside the regatta to see who will be the best.

The action started last weekend with the opening ABC regatta, or if you prefer, the Aberdeen Yacht Club Regatta. The three Longtze premiers finished first, second, and third, respectively, in their categories. “It was fantastic, there were about 80 boats… we definitely had a lot of fun, and between our boats... it was really a riot…”  The last weekend, September, 13th and 14th , the three teams will be on the starting line for the celebrated Royal Hong-Kong Yacht Club Autumn Regatta.  It is a well anticipated event: “Ninety boats will start, and some 30 odd sport boats. « So this will be very interesting for us” continues Thierry Barot. During the summer, we refined our boat handling maneuvers, even if the objective was to take on board the maximum number of people to try the boat. I still have discovered plenty of small details which allow me to go faster and push the boat to go better." In case where everyone has a small taste of the blues next weekend, and not to wonder what is happening on the island, there will be the Shelterregata !

Now you understand, in Hong-Kong, we are never on vacation!
