Beginning of the Longtze Student Cup: success !

Nine student teams joined the Hydro’s Cup on the 25, 26 and 27th of March, 2011 in Marseille. Nine teams, nine schools, nine performings for a crazy race !

The weather was excellent for the first two days, it became more aggressive on the third one (the wind got stronger and it rained). This did not alter the enthusiasm of both participants and organizing team. The atmosphere became convivial just before the Hydro’s Cup began, on Thursday 25th, when a welcoming drink were given by the Sailing Club of EM Lyon Business School. This were an occasion for everybody to share impressions and feelings.

First races took place under the sun, with very light wind. On the last day, bad weather were a good occasion to test the abilities of the teams. Ecole Navale, ESSEC Beijaflore, CSC-HEC and Centrale Nantes established great performances during these three days. Final results were given on Sunday 27th, at the SNM (Société Nautique de Marseille) : first team, Ecole Navale, second one, CSC-HEC, third one, ESSEC Beijaflore (concerning student teams only)

Martin Nicolas, of the team Ecole Navale, tells a bit about these three days : « Before the race began, honestly, we were not absolutely confident. At school, we didn’t really have good occasions to train a lot. The most important thing were to stand together and to create a good team, guided by a capable and teaching skipper (Fabien Delahaye). During the race, we worked especially our trim ; our spinnaker technique also made us stronger. The victory is a great thing for us. Be sure we will remember it ! In a short-term point of view, it is not possible to say that we are absolutely sure to win !... Let’s remain focused on the present. And for long term, we intend to go on participating to the LSC for the following years. »

Congratulations for the winning team ! And for the other participants, they know that nothing is definitive, everything can change. The atmosphere remains positive for everyone and that is a great success.
